Cornerstone SEND Academy

Cornerstone School is a new SEND academy, repurposing existing listed buildings and land to create an all new educational establishment in Belvedere, Kent.

Due to the nature of the school, the perimeter needed to truly anti-climb. To meet this requirement, Securus 358 weldmesh to a minimum height of 2.4m high has been used to secure all boundaries and was signed off by the local secure by design officer. The entire front elevation needed to be fitted above an existing listed retaining wall, meaning we couldn’t directly fix to the it. So large cantilever posts had to be designed and used – some of which weighed in at over 300kg!

As well as the bespoke perimeter, a huge amount of surveying and bespoke manufacture was required to create solutions to work around a steeply sloping site. Custom posts were made for the sports MUGA, railings and handrails measured and fabricated for various ramps and steps throughout the site.

Lockable bike stores were also procured and installed by Perimeter Solutions operatives.

Cornerstone Academy has been one of the largest and most complex educational projects Perimeter Solutions have ever undertaken. Despite the challenges, works were completed on time and to an incredibly professional finish – well done to the installation and management team who dedicated so much time to this project.
