St Marks Church, Tottenham

Perimeter Solutions received a client brief in the form of tender documents, for some unique security fencing for new secure living accommodation in North London.

Whilst the drawings looked good on paper, many of the requirements were completely bespoke to the setting, so our client Marlborough Highways were looking to partner with a company able to take on a complex bespoke install.

The 2.75m high anti-climb 358 at the rear of the site was relatively straightforward, albeit in a very tight area giving our installation team a few challenges with the mesh transport and lifting.

The real challenge came with the bespoke railings on the main frontage of the site. The architect wanted the lettering “St Marks” to feature in the railings, but for the letters to magically disappear and reappear, depending on where you were standing. The idea of having steel fins laser cut and welded to the back of the railing infills was had – but would this work in reality?

Perimeter Solutions got to work with Alpha Rail, surveying the site for ground levels, to build the panels bespoke to site. Once these were made and the drop of each panel confirmed, then the work on the lettering could begin. The architect, a council member and a representative from our client Marlborough travelled up to Alpha Rail’s HQ to visit our railings, and using cardboard templates and masking tape put the fin concept to test by fixing this to the rear of the panels. Success, the idea worked! So from this point, the lettering was designed fully, laser cut and welded to the back of the infills. The panels were then galvanised and powdercoated, before being transported carefully to site and installed by our team. The end result was perfect.

This scheme was recognised by the Association of Fencing Industries (AFI) as being an exceptional case study and made the finals for the Security Fencing Project of the Year 2025
